Chronological Index of Articles

The chronological index lists all articles that have appeared in Monumenta Nipponica and supersedes the Classified Index of Articles.

The Index of Book Reviews

The index of book reviews includes the reviews that have appeared in Monumenta Nipponica from Vol. 54 No. 4 (Winter, 1999) to the current issue.

The List of Monographs

In addition to the journal, between 1940 and the 1980s Monumenta Nipponica published close to sixty monographs. They are listed here, along with Sophia University publications distributed by Monumenta Nipponica.

Special Notice

The Classified Index of Articles has been superseded by the more accurate and up-to-date chronological index, but for archival purposes the Classified Index for volumes 1-56 is still made available.

 

Using the Downloaded Index of Articles

How to download the Index to your computer
We suggest that you download the Index so that you have a local copy on your computer.

To download the index, click on the relevant link below and choose "Save File As..." from the File menu (Windows/Mac).

How to view a local copy
Once you have the source file on disk, you can view the contents by opening the file on your Web browser. One way to do so is to open your browser and choose File:Open and navigate to the file location.

How to search the index
The chronological index can be searched by author, title, or by a keyword that appears in the article title. To do so, please use your browser's Find function. Note that macrons and other diacritical marks have been omitted.

To search using the Find function press Command - F / Control - F to bring up the Find on Page dialog box. Using that dialog box will locate the first instance of the keyword if it appears in the index. Then press Command - G / Control - G to find the next instance; repeat the process to find each further occurrence.
